Monster Hunter Wilds crossplay

Last reviewed

Yes — Monster Hunter Wilds has full cross-play between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it is enabled by default.

What cross-play covers

Cross-play applies to the multiplayer systems you actually hunt in: Link Parties, Environment Links, SOS flares and quest matchmaking all pool players from every platform.

The expansion keeps this. Capcom confirmed full cross-play for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance when the expansion was announced in June 2026, so the player pool does not fragment at launch.

  • Link Parties — persistent groups that survive quest transitions
  • Environment Link — sharing an open-world session
  • SOS flares and quest matchmaking

What is not shared across platforms

Cross-play is not the same as cross-progression. Your save, your hunter and your inventory belong to the platform you play on; buying the game a second time on another platform starts you from zero.

Platform-level features also stay platform-level — friend lists, party chat and achievements are handled by PlayStation Network, Xbox network or Steam respectively, not by the game.

Playing with friends

The reliable route is a Link Party: form one from the Link Party menu, share the code, and the group persists as you move between quests and the open world. Environment Link puts you in the same world instance, which is the part people usually mean when they say a session "broke".
